You create your own schedule from more than 25 sports and 40 different subjects. Whether you are a beginner, highly ambitious or simply curious to try something new, there is space for you at IHS.

Located between the beach, the forest and the city of Sønderborg, the school offers unique surroundings for both activity and relaxation. After a beach volleyball match, you can jump into the sea, go mountain biking in the forest or enjoy the view from a kayak on the water.

At Idrætshøjskolen Sønderborg, subjects are about much more than classes. Here, you get the opportunity to challenge yourself, develop new skills and become part of strong communities.

In the special sports subjects, you can immerse yourself in a sport together with others who share your interest - whether you are a beginner or experienced. The sports subjects allow you to explore even more activities and experience the joy of movement, sports and community in everyday life. You have your special sports subject 3 times a week and the sports subject twice a week. 

In the interest subjects, you can explore new hobbies and creative interests such as sports massage, outdoor life, music, cooking or ceramics. The general subjects focus on personal development, society, culture and reflection, encouraging you to think creatively, discuss ideas and gain new perspectives on yourself and the world around you.

At the same time, the entire school comes together through community subjects, morning assemblies, singing, lectures, shared sports activities and social events that create friendships and experiences across the school.

At IHS, you do not just build a schedule - you build a folk high school experience filled with memories, personal growth and experiences for life.

Facilities at IHS

Idrætshøjskolen Sønderborg offers fantastic facilities both indoors and outdoors. Here, you will find a swimming pool, climbing wall, beach volleyball courts, mountain bike trail, fitness facilities and areas for water sports such as sailing and other watersports. The school also offers cozy spaces for classes, music, relaxation and creative activities.
