About the school

The primary coursework is designed for students from Denmark and abroad who wish to build up a portfolio of their own work to be used in applications for studies of art, architecture, design and visual communication at university level.

More than 75% of our students succeed in continuing their studies at university level after finishing their coursework at Krabbesholm.

Founded in 1885, Krabbesholm is an old college rich in tradition. Yet you will find a contemporary atmosphere. The School is well-equipped with up to date facilities.

Courses and topics

MAIN COURSES
When you register at Krabbesholm you choose one of the main courses. This is where most of you everyday life at Krabbesholm will be spend. 

The main subjects are:

Art: In the Art course you learn to experience art, interpret art and make art - in all kind of media.

Architecture: In the Architecture course you constantly reflect on ways of living and learn all the basic methods of the architect.

Visual communication: In the Visual communication course you learn to explore and challenge the visual language and to work with animation and 3D.

Design: In the Design course you work with designing both clothing, furniture and products.


Practical information

FACILITIES

As a student you have access to the school's Macintosh suite, photo lab equipped with b&w and colour darkroom, graphic work-shop, video equipment, pottery, glass and metal workshop, art studios, design studios, model workshop, fashion workshop - and a comprehensive specialist library.

The school also has a large exhibition building, where students regularly exhibit their work. There will also be professional artists, designers and architects showing their work.

EVERYDAY LIFE

At Krabbesholm you will use most of your time immersing youself in your projects and spending time with the other students. A stay at Krabbesholm is a package deal where teaching, events, meetings, and practical assignments – such as kitchen duty and cleaning – are inseparable. Everything is mandatory. Every student has a responsibility towards the community and the social environment. A good and friendly atmosphere is important.

LOCATION
Krabbesholm is situated just outside the city of Skive in and around the beautiful manor house of Krabbesholm from 1565 and is surrounded by the Limfjord and the Krabbesholm woods. Students and teachers live together on campus.

Prices

The fee for teaching, board and lodging is from the 1st of January 2017: DKK 2125 weekly for a double room and DKK 2325 weekly for a single room.

About accommodation

Accomodations: 121

Krabbesholm has room for 122 students per semester.

Travels

Every semester the students will go abroad on a study trip.

Smaller trips to for instance Copenhagen or Hamburg are often planned, so that the students get a chance to visit relevant schools, studios, museum and exhibitions.

Diet

Our kitchen staff is trained to cook in accordance with a variety of diets, including vegetarian, vegan, various allergies, etc. If you have any doubt as to whether your needs can be met, we suggest you call the school for more information

Children at long-term courses

We have previously had students with children at Krabbesholm, but there are numerous factors one has to consider before bringing a child to the school. We suggest that you call us for more information.

Due to the age and construction of the main buildings of the school, we have very limited accessibility. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
