Nordfyns Højskole
Nordfyns Højskole is a Danish folk high school; a non-formal residential school where you’ll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in interesting subjects and be part of a distinct community. In one of the most scenic parts of Denmark, we have created a curious environment where people from different cultures can learn from one another.
About the school
Nordfyns Højskole is different from other Danish folk high schools – here, you’ll become part of a diverse, international environment where we emphasize equality. We see the value in meeting and forming friendships with people from different cultural, national and social backgrounds. Here, you’ll have a warm and welcoming introduction to Danish culture, while also being able to immerse yourself in interesting subjects without the pressure of exams or grades.
TRAVELLING
As a student at Nordfyns, you can also travel:
Study Trip During the Semester: Together, we travel to another country for 1–2 weeks, where we experience a new culture together. Read more here.
Long Trip to Japan: As one of the few folk high schools in Denmark, we offer a two-month trip to Japan. Here, you can experience Japanese culture up close, participate in volunteer work, and have plenty of time to explore the country with your fellow students. More details about the long trip here.

Practical information
Nordfyns Højskole is the embodiment of Danish hygge. Here, you’ll find yourself in a bubble filled with friendship, laughter and beautiful nature.
The school’s main building is located in Harritslev’s old community school from 1914. Student rooms, classrooms, our jewellery and ceramics workshop, the music room and everything else has expanded to the surrounding older and newer buildings. In our outdoor areas, you’ll find a lush garden filled with fruits and vegetables as well as a multifield, a volleyball court and a football field. If you go exploring, you might even locate our DIY greenhouse made from repurposed windows, our sauna and our two shelters and firepits, all made in collaboration with former students.
Nordfyns Højskole resembles an eclectic, charming village, where you’ll clearly feel the students’ touch.
- 30-minute transport to Odense.
- About 3 kilometers to Bogense, where you’ll find grocery shops, drug stores, restaurants, a lovely beach and more.
